The Southern Indian ocean is in season now, and it is very active. There is a strengthening hurricane (Favio) just south of Madagascar. Favio is forecasted to hit Mozambique as an 85 mph category 1 hurricane. It has a very nice eye structure for a cat 1.
Also, there are 3 other neat looking disturbances on the ITCZ propagating south and west (towards the prime meridian). Shear is ok, and the second one from the right has a well developed anti-cyclone actually. Cool stuff to watch, and definitely more active than usual, as a sign of a strong MJO in the region.
