On the OsMeR website I noticed some non-Italian data from around FVG. They are always official (taken from ArpaV, ARSO, etc.). Today (August 4th) I have seen 85 mm fallen in Vojsko I think (or a place NE of Ajdovscina), do you confirm? Maybe there was an interesting amount there.
Anyway, I think up on the Trnovski Gozd they sank today! The estimate data of OsMeR were of more than 100 mm there. And they were confirmed by the storm keeping pouring down heavily in that zone.
What I think now, is that our yellowish-dull Karst did receive a vital amount of LIFE, i.e. water. I saw your pics about the fires: I took some one day at dawn when in Monfalcone the sun delayed its rising (1 hour later I think) being covered by the smoke clouds.
That will become a report and I will link to your shots. Mine are quite incredible since it was a very lucky catch, to have that smoke between me and the sun rising upon the hills on a hot summer day. At the same time, it was so sad to see Kras was burning.
Some days lat later, at the end of July, I also made a trip to shoot some "yellow hills", the most yellow I would find in the Carso area. There were plenty: now I can compare them with some green re-gaining possession![]()

OT for Aragoth. Monday I'm expecting to do some speleo near Lake Cerknika. Due to the heavy rains occured do you think the caves are flooded?
Tks
io ho vomitato sul sedile di un 737 AF (per chi non è pratico af=air france). figo, no? (Fedex dixit)
hmm it could be, since there was also at least 100-130mm of rainfall these daysOriginariamente Scritto da strauch67
Cerknica (not Cerknika) lake is surely flooded a lot, so poassibly also caves and surrounding stuff is under water

Official data from Vojsko says 60mm yesterday, so I don't really know where could that station beMaybe I can get some more official data on monday, I will let you know

Yesterday there was for sure around 100mm on Trnovski Gozd since there was intense orographic lifting from the south, thats a good option for huge amounts of rain there.
We of course got enough rain now, for example look at this; at my station I got 7mm in June and 18mm in July, now I got 137mm in August...that is incredible!Thankfully those fires are saved now, there is no chance we would have them again for awhile now...the whole Slovenia got at least 50mm and up to over 200mm in some places in this last week, so its ok now

Do you have total rainfall for this year for FVG anywhere? I have 799mm here for now, that is great...its 20% above the average, hard to imagine since such drought before![]()
Cheers!![]()
