hello
Where did you find such 180-200 cm numbers ?
I Know MT Ibuki 1927 record but in lower regions I can't find more than 160 cm a day in a lot of files on my computer even in very snowy places (but a lot of years with 110-150 cm/24 h )
Tsunan 24 h max 150 cm (1967) for a long period 1961/2020 https://www.town.tsunan.niigata.jp/u...43747_misc.pdf
Ketto near tsunan max since1976 24 h max 147 cm (average season snowfall 1700 cm) https://www.town.tsunan.niigata.jp/u...43748_misc.pdf
Myoko since 1995 160 cm ??????-????-
Matsunoyama since 1995, 130 cm (total of afternoon and morning numbers)
??????-???-
near coast Tagada 120 cm on JMA 気象庁|過去の気象データ検索
but JMA Numbers for snowfall have huge problems of method with automatic stations = sum of 24 hourly snowdepht differences
Very interesting!
We have the "myth" (in a positive sense) of Japan cause of the deep snow cover also at low levels in some regions, so we assume such a big amount of snow (2 meters or more) in 24 hrs is not only absolutely plausible, but probably it really occured.
Thank you very much for the data!

About JAPAN i don't have numbers from 1rst part of 20 century except few from JMA and Tokamachi (snowlab) studies wich begins in 1943 for snowfall ( 1918 for snowdepht )
Tokamachi is in the heart of snowcountry region but daily snowfall records are lower than neighbours : top 3 : 100 cm ; 105; 105 cm and far from Italian records
Table21 of this very complete doc: https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article.../_pdf/-char/ja

About method , at Matsunoyama 1995 2020
with " HS difference 9AM to 9AM " method, the top 3 , 24 hours snowfall woud be 110 cm (178->288 13-01-2010) , 85 cm and 84 cm
Tavoletta method : (total of afternoon and morning numbers) top 3 : 130 cm, 130cm, 117 cm
I've got some old data finded here:
Oshirakawa Shinden [37.3462193766001,139.1380262374878 (WGS84)], record HN 24h ("tavoletta" every 24h), 192 cm, 09/01/1986Title ; Niigata-Ken kousekisetsu oyobi kion kansoku 30 nen hou (Snowfall and temperature observations in the Niigata prefecture, report of 30 years ) - Author; Niigata Prefecture - Publisher; Niigata Prefecture - Issued; 1999
Title ; Kisho-Nenkan 1995 (Meteorological Almanac 1995) - Author; supervised by JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) and edited by JWA (Japan weather association) - Publisher; National Printing Bureau - Issued; 08/1995
Magawa (Toyama pref.) 180 28/02/1947 Takada (Niigata pref.) 176 09/02/1927 Santou (Niigata pref.) 170 31/01/1968 Shikabe (Hokkaidou pref.) 160 12/02/1963
About Ibuki 230 cm/24h snowfall of 14/01/1975 I'm 99% sure it's an error. You can check HS daily data here: 気象庁|過去の気象データ検索
There are obviously some problems with that data and/or station (+3 m of HS difference between 10 and 11 January??), and if You check daily rainfall data of sourroundings stations there's no evidence of such heavy precipitations in so short time...
