La Florida è a nord-ovest dell'occhio del ciclone, a due passi dalle Bahamas, ovvero laddove sta succedendo il finimondo, e l'uragano Dorian ha come destinazione propria la Florida orientale nelle prossime ore, sebbene i venti saranno nemmeno a 100 Km/h, ma si scateneranno delle piogge violente che già sono cominciate a cadere a partire da oggi sotto la presenza di venti abbastanza forti da NW (non come alle Bahamas > 150 Km/h). L'uragano compirà un moto retrogrado, ovvero est-ovest per colpire la Florida, per poi sfilare direttamente molti km a nord con traiettoria SW-NE, anche più a nord di New York City, fino in Nuova Scozia, però l'intensità dell'uragano sarà minore salendo di latitudine in quanto ha già scaricato abbastanza energia nel Mar dei Caraibi e continuerà a farlo nel lungo percorso..

- Storm Surge 12 to 18 feet above normal tide levels with higher
destructive waves
These hazards will continue over Grand Bahama Island through
Tuesday morning, causing extreme destruction on the island.

Ma se rimane quasi stazionario, raffredda in un certo senso il mare sottostante e perde energia?

La ragione maggiore sta nelle condizioni socio-politiche dei paesi da te citati che vivono (Cina a parte ma nemmeno troppo) uno stile di vita diverso da "noi" occidentali e sono diversi anche i mezzi di comunicazione, specialmente tra Cina e Taiwan (ma stessa cosa vale per tutto il sud-est asiatico).
Questo anche perché lì la politica impone molte censure ed è davvero poco quello che arriva nei nostri TG, solamente cose eclatanti (vedi Hong Kong, dove la protesta va avanti da settimane), quindi se un tifone cat. 1 si abbatte sulle loro coste causando una piccola inondazione ed uccidendo poche persone il rumore mediatico che fa è infimo e non viene trasmesso, se è un cat. 5 ed inonda 1/4 della Cina allora molte notizie trapelano, ma a causa delle ragione sopra descritte a noi arriverà ben poco.
Per le Filippine il discorso è diverso dato che esse sono indirettamente soggette al dominio americano di cui furono una colonia fino al 1946 e lì la stampa è più libera, ma il paese in sé è meno sviluppato per cui arriveranno sempre poche notizie, a parte per eventi meteo catastrofici (vedi tifone Hayan nel 2013).
