It can happen sometimes here.

In 2009 first snow on Sept 13rd, in 2010 first snow today August 4th in the morning.

Now rain with snow. + 2.2 degrees. Kajerkan + 2.8 degrees, Talnakh + 3.1 degrees

HI Sergej, I was looking at the location of Norilsk, and I was very surprised to find a lot of larch trees (Larix) also at that latitude! It's amazing to see them growing even with such a short (and cold!) growing season. Is it colder than normal the summer this year up there?

Hi Efrem and thank you for your interest in my City.

Even if the cold season is for 9 months we are a simple varieties of threes.
Enclosed you can see 2 pictures of my Thundra and 1 picture of Norilsk of 1 month ago.

This summer is not a summer........ I mean; in 2010 July had the same average temperature of August that for us it is the first month of the autumn.
Yesterday it snowed for the first time compare with Sept 13rd in 2009. In opposite this winter was not so cold. The lowest average temperature was - 34 degrees compare with - 37 of 2009 and 2008. The lowest temperature in 2010 was - 48.9 degrees but in the previous winters we went below - 50 degrees. When it happens the city is completely closed and we are paid even if we don't go to the office. In that days students attend lessons via internet connection.

Now + 5.1 degrees with few clouds.

Yesterday first snow of the season with + 1.7 / + 8.2 degrees. Snow in early morning than rain. Clouds in the afternoon.

If you and Sergej let me say something about this argument:

Norilsk have in summer one or two month above +10 in average (July August? or only July?). For that they can have trees (Larix) in accordance with Koppen.

In fact, they have there a Dfc climate because:
D: average temperature of coldest month is below -3 (surely, they have about -29 )
f: wet all seasons....
c: the warmest month above +10 (they have about +14), but 1 to 3 month only with average above +10

it's a perfect climate for the conifers....

When the average temperature of warmest month is below +10 it's the begining of the Tundra climate...."ET" of Koppen

July has an average temperature of 15 degrees but not this cold summer.

August is located below 10 degrees.

I don't know the origin of these values even if they are more or less ok. Of course when I report and compare values I use my rainwise weather stations located in Noril'sk, Talnakh, Kajerkan and one station in Dudinka port of my friend

Now I report 5.1 degrees with clouds.

What's happening near the border of Lebanon ? I am concern.

In the South of Lebanon, we have a particular situation. After a war of July-August 2006 between Hezbollah and Israel we have UNIFIL forces (UN) and the lebanese army..
but the frontier is not well defined between the reality and the "blue line" drawed by UN. And we have had a serious problems yesterday for the first time after many years between the lebanese army and Israel. Hezbollah don't entered....
I hope that we won't have another war, 15 years it's enough....
