Archived satelite images - tornado/microburst event on 23.8.1986

Hello Ben,
thanks for such a response! I am doing a deep research of this event as well, I really would like to know if that was a tornado or microburst damage. Here I am giving two things...

Sounding Udine 12z for 23.8.1986:

If you can check the damage map, you can see there is not a whole path, it is just a partly damage along the whole 34km path.

For me sounding looks like a but similar to those wet-microburst ones, what do you think? I am glad you're also pretty much interested in this extreme day, hopefully we could get a perfect report/article for it at the end! I will try to find some more informations in book in Slovenia, there should be some.

PS: Could be possible to find some radar images?

Ben,

I am waking up this topic again As we discussed few days ago at the dinner time, I am willing to do a deep research of this event in both places... Slovenian tornado and north Italian microburst damage, etc. I am of course more than welcome for you to contribute in this research.

I've just spoken with a friend from national meteo service here and he will take a look at their archive for radar images along with reanalysis maps at different levels from that day. If there is a chance to get some surface data from Italy, that would be really helpful!

This was really a spectacular day, so it should take place on the web as well
