MetOffice aggiorna le previsioni stagionali

Ieri MetOffice ha emesso l'update rigurdante le previsioni a lunga termine per il resto dell'Inverno 2006/2007.
Da sottolineare che fino ad ora hanno centrato a pieno la previsione.

Winter 2006/7 forecast

Issued 4 January 2007
The Met Office forecast for the winter period (December 2006 to February 2007) was last issued on 5 December 2006. It indicated that:

• for temperature, near-average or warmer-than-average were the more likely outcomes for the winter as a whole, but that there was potential for lower temperatures (relative to average) later in the season.
• for rainfall, average or above-average amounts were predicted to be the more likely outcomes.

Forecast for the remainder of Winter 2006/7

The forecast update below is based on latest indications for the remainder of the winter season.
Temperature

For the rest of the winter, the Met Office continues to forecast that near- or above-average temperatures are the most likely outcomes. However, there is still an indication that the UK could experience an increase in the number of cold snaps with some snowfall, later in January and at times through February.

Precipitation

Above-normal rainfall has fallen over most regions of the UK through December. There continues to be a weak indication for average or above-average precipitation through the remainder of winter.


Although this forecast runs until the end of February, it is recognised that winter weather can often extend beyond this period. A review of the winter as it unfolds will be available and updated through the season. A final forecast for the remainder of the winter period will be issued on Tuesday 6 February 2007.
