Typhoon FENGSHEN (FRANK) raking the Northern Coast of Panay Island as it continues to gain strength with near Category 3 strength of 175 km/hr...This typhoon is currently causing devastation along its path...Eye approaching the famous resort island of Boracay.
Important note: This Typhoon is similar in track & strength of Typhoon UTOR (SENIANG) of December 10, 2006 which affected Northern Panay and Boracay Island Resort. Please take precautionary measures!

+ Forecast Outlook: FENGSHEN is expected to pass over or very close to Boracay around 12 noon today, before heading towards Mindoro. The Eye is expected to make landfall over Southern Mindoro late this afternoon and cross the island. It shall be over the South China Sea by tomorrow morning. </B>
+ Effects: The Eye of FENGSHEN continues to move along the northern coast of Panay with its EyeWall affecting the provinces of Capiz & Aklan including Roxas City. Boracay Island Resort, Tablas Island and Romblon shall expect the arrival of the EyeWall before noon today. Meanwhile, Its inner bands continues to move across the rest of Panay, Northern Negros & is now spreading over Marinduque and Mindoro Island. Strong winds of up to 85 km/hr with moderate to heavy rains can be expected along the inner bands. Meanwhile, whole Bicol Region, Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, the whole of Visayas, Mindoro and Palawan remains under the effects of FENGSHEN's outer (rain) bands. Moderate to heavy rains with winds not exceeding 40 km/hr can be expected today. Residents in low-lying areas must seek higher grounds for possible flooding & landslides due to the anticipated heavy rains brought about by this system. Precautionary measures must be implemented today. Coastal Storm Surge flooding of 6 to 8 feet above normal tide levels...along with large and dangerous battering waves can be expected near and to the north of FRANK's projected path particularly on where the center makes landfall in Northern Panay & Mindoro. Moderate damage is possible on this type of storm surge. Far-fetched storm surge is possible along coastal areas of Eastern Philippines with surf reaching 2-4 feet at most.

già il tifun invece di uscire dalle filippine a ovest è andato su verso nord facendo macelli. oltre 150 morti senza contare quelli della nave
dall'ultima animazione sat pare abbia finalmente scartato verso il mare. ormai visto il prolungato contatto con l'isola ha perso l'occhio quindi non capisco bene la direzione, certo che potrebbe anche riservare qualche sorpresa visto che non sei a casa...

The center of Typhoon FENGSHEN (FRANK) is now over Dasol, Pangasinan...will move out into the South China Sea via Cape Bolinao, Pangasinan...Strong winds and heavy rains still affecting Central Luzon including Metro Manila, becoming more intense along Zambales, Tarlac & Pangasinan.
The system rapidly accelerated and made landfall over Tayabas-Lucena City area early this morning at approx 2 AM.
**Based on actual observation, calm conditions have been observed in Quezon City and nearby areas of Metro Manila around 6:00-8:00 AM this morning. Latest official satellite fix confirms that around 7:30 AM (23:30 GMT) this morning - the cloud-filled EYE was over Quezon City.

+ Forecast Outlook: FENGSHEN is expected to weaken into a strong Tropical Storm upon reaching the South China Sea tonight and shall move NNW across the sea. The 2 to 5-day long-range forecast shows the system regaining Typhoon status as it starts recurving to the NNE on Tuesday afternoon, June 24. FENGSHEN shall move across NW Taiwan through Taiwan Strait, parallel to the coastline as a 120-kph Typhoon on Wednesday, June 25. It shall begin Extratropical transition on Friday, June 27.
+ Effects: Southern EyeWall of FENGSHEN has weakened into a Central Dense Overcast (CDO), after passing over Metro Manila this morning & is affecting Zambales, Tarlac, Pangasinan & Pampanga. Under CDO, conditions could be worst with winds reaching 100 km/hr & heavy rains that could last for hours - reaching a possible 200 to 300 millimeters of total rainfall in a day. Meanwhile, Its inner bands shall continue to spread across the Southern Tagalog Provinces, Metro Manila, Mindoro, Panay Island, Bicol Region, Quezon and the whole Central Luzon. Strong winds of up to 65 km/hr with moderate to heavy rains can be expected along the inner bands. Meanwhile, whole Northern & Southern Luzon, the whole of Northern Visayas, and Northern Palawan remains under the effects of FENGSHEN's outer (rain) bands. Moderate to heavy rains with winds not exceeding 40 km/hr can be expected today. Il presidente Gloria Arroyo ha ritirato la licenza di navigazione alla compagnia responsabile di aver fatto prendere il largo al traghetto malgrado le pessime condizioni meteo, con venti fino a 110 chilometri l'ora.
Il traghetto avrebbe dovuto impiegare 22 ore per coprire la rotta da Cebu a Manila. Al momento della partenza c'era già una situazione di allarme per il tifone. La guardia costiera che non ha impedito alla nave di salpare, si è difesa affermando che il tifone ha cambiato direzione quando il grande ferry era già in pieno oceano.
