Ciao Tub.
I've found some data of seasonal avarage.
This is taken from Edinburgh Int. Airport

January is the coldest month, but february is very similar, with only 0.2 degree of difference.
This is the avarage rainfall

December is quite rainy, with an avarage of 60mm. I think the snow isn't rare, but it goes over 5/10cm with difficulty.
Let's read the data of temperature avarage taken from Royal Observatory (134m):

With 2.9°C of avarage temperature, january is colder here than in the airport, but the most evident thing is that there's a significant difference beetwen january and february (0.7°C), the contrary of what happened in the airport.
my uncle that have been there told me that the winter there is very much colder then here....above all the
lowest temperature...
are you sure? my uncle told me that he remember that the temperatures there in winter arrived until at -15 -20.....come to a point that the people died in the them house and in the cars and in the bus......but probably has been an exception......
however i live 650 metres above sea level and temperates are about the same then pianura padana...
yes i found this on wikipedia......if we consider whole the year is surely more cold edinburgh than pianura padana....in the winter more or less is the same....

Absolutely not, those temperature are too low for Edinburgh, in winter the Atlantic ocean effects don't make it possible to reach -20°C in the city. It is said also in the link you have posted :"Gli inverni sono lunghi ma non sono freddissimi considerando che le temperature scendono di rado sotto i 0 °C"
Of Course, it is colder if we condider annual average temperatures, but we are talking about winter in this thread!
But in winter Milano for example is colder than Edinburgh, look at this data set:
Milano Linate
Edinburgh Royal Obs.
Milano avarage temperatures in December, January, February are lower than temperatures in the same months in Edinburgh. Milano is 1.8°C colder than Edinburgh in the coldest month of winter (january), it is much
