ASTEROID 2008 TC3: A small, newly-discovered asteroid named 2008 TC3 is approaching Earth and chances are good that it will hit. Steve Chesley of JPL estimates that atmospheric entry will occur on Oct 7th at 0246 UTC over northern Sudan [ref]. Measuring only a few meters across, the space rock poses NO THREAT TO THE GROUND, but it should create a spectacular fireball, releasing about a kiloton of energy as it disintegrates and explodes in the atmosphere. Stay tuned for updates.

Io direi di stare svegli fino alle 0:46 (ora locale) per vedere il botto... visto che si disintegrerà ad una altezza considerevole, potremmo vederlo anche dall'Italia.
Sarà comunque un bello spettacolo per chi potrà vederlo, un meteorite da qualche metro non capita tutti i giorni....

Io direi di stare svegli fino alle 0:46 (ora locale) per vedere il botto... visto che si disintegrerà ad una altezza considerevole, potremmo vederlo anche dall'Italia.

The asteroid will track from the northwest, so observers in Europe, northern Africa could possibly see the atmospheric entry phase.
Depending on the composition the atmospheric impact and breakup should release ~ 1 kiloton of energy.

Apparte che qui è nuvolo in che direzione bisognerebbe osservare?

ISO a 1.200, un maglione pesante e salgo sul tetto. Spero nella mancanza di nuvole, devo guardare verso S, SSE se non ho capito male.

Come scritto sopra, dovrebbe entrare da nordovest e dirigersi verso sudest, perciò passerà sopra di noi forse già in alta atmosfera e perciò visibile.

Insomma, alle ore 0:30 salgo sul tetto come quando faccio manutenzione alle webcam, mi metto a cavalcioni del culmine e aspetto, se trovi info più precise scrivile qui.

da carta azimutale centrata sulle coordinate indicate dovrebbe più o meno passare sulla sardegna, sicilia, cirenaica.
