Hello all,
do you know this station in Massif Central in S France at 1567m asl? They have really extreme weather there... max wind gust up to 360km/h recorded in 1966 year, very high number of days with strong winds, etc... also the other data are impressive... 607mm/24h in the rainfall record!

Mount Aigoual is well known in France. Most meteo enthusiasts have been there once at least. It is located at the south part of the massif Central, very close to the Cevennes. Wx conditions are often extreme there as you mentionned.
Cevennes mountains are also well known. In this area, from september to december typicals storms called cevenols ( Orage cévenol - Wikipédia) are causing heavy rains. This occurs during autumnal storms when the mediterranean sea temperature is quite high. In 2002 such an episode produced 713mm of rain in 24hours near Alès.
Up the Mount Aigoual there's a Wx station. You can access it by car and even have a coffee up there.
