si Ã¨ indebolito molto infatti,perÃ² sembra possa ripigliarsi un attimo.
il jtwc lo da ancora vivo nel possibile impatto coi territori del nord
dal sat sembra si sia disperso un attimo,vediamo fra 12 ore

sembra possa tornare un ciclone da raffiche di vento superiori ai 150km orari.

Io invece lo stavo seguendo sul Bureau of Meteorology australiano ( http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/nt/ ) perÃ² noto una certa incongruitÃ*...

.Il sito australiano vede il ciclone come un cat3 addirittura in intensificazione a un cat4......come mai?? usano parametri diversi??

A CYCLONE WARNING remains current for coastal communities on western Cape York
Peninsula from Pormpuraaw to Weipa.

A CYCLONE WATCH is current for Northern Territory coastal and island communities
between Port Roper and Milingimbi including Groote Eylandt, Elcho Island and
Nhulunbuy.

At 4 am EST [3:30 am CST] Severe Tropical Cyclone Monica, category 3, was
located near latitude 13.6 south longitude 140.2 east, which is 400 kilometres
east southeast of Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory and 170 kilometres west of
Aurukun in Queensland. The cyclone has recently been moving to the northwest at
7 km/h.

This SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE WILL CONTINUE TO INTENSIFY as it moves towards the
Arnhem Coast of the Northern Territory.

Although the cyclone is moving slowly away from Cape Yorke Peninsula, GALES may
be experienced in exposed coastal areas between Weipa and Pormpuraaw during the
next few hours as the cyclone deepens.

GALES should develop about the Northern Territory coast between Port Roper and
Milingimbi including Groote Eylandt, Elcho Island and Nhulunbuy during Saturday.

Details of Tropical Cyclone Monica, Category 3, for 4 am EST [3:30 am CST]
Friday.
Central Pressure : 960 Hectopascals
Location of Centre : within 10 kilometres of
latitude 13.6 degrees south
longitude 140.2 degrees east
400 km east southeast of Nhulunbuy [Northern Territory]
170 km west of Aurukun [in Queensland]
Recent Movement : NW at 7 km/hr
Maximum wind gusts : 190 kilometres per hour

Areas of heavy rain will continue over Cape York Peninsula overnight and may
cause some flooding. People living in areas likely to be affected by this
flooding should continue to take the appropriate measures and follow the advice
given by authorities.

Abnormally high tides are expected between Pormpuraaw and Weipa, but the sea
level should not exceed the highest tide of the year. Large waves are likely
along the western Cape York beachfront.

Even though the cyclone is moving away from Queensland, people on the coast
between Aurukun and Pormpuraaw remain under cyclone warning for the next few
hours and should still take precautions and listen to the next advice to be
issued at 8 am EST [7:30 am CST] Friday.

People between Port Roper and Milingimbi should consider what action they will
need to take if the cyclone threat increases and listen to the next advice at 8
am EST [7:30 am CST] Friday. If you are unsure about actions to be taken,
information is available from your local government or local Emergency Service.

The next warning will be issued by 8 am EST [7:30 am CST] Friday.

secondo me sbagliano,come hanno esagerato col cyclone Larry,del quale hanno dato un landfall come CAT 5..

ha ora 80 nodi di vento,circa 160km/h,dunque sfiora la CAT 2,ma non sta assolutamente alla CAT3,questo sito australiano esagera...

sul sito c'Ã¨ spiegato l'indice di classificazione australiano riguardo ai cicloni,non Ã¨ lo stesso degli uragani ma simile,cambia soprattutto per le categorie inferiori.
Monica comunque Ã¨ visto in notevole rinforzo,raffiche superiori ai 200km orari fra 24 ore.diventa un signor ciclone di 4 categoria(3 della saffir simpson)
