bio,
but how is ti possible that I saw a Mt. Carpegna 1700m which is ~280km from Mt. Nanos? Because at such distance Earth is curved a lot and it shouldn't be visible.
Or probably its some effect caused by strong temp. gradient in inversion that rises peaks to be visible.

I know perfectly my mountain, and i think that the orografy in this photo its perfect to compare with Catria1700-Nerone1500-Carpegna1400
This is Monte Catria-Acuto 1700 mt and in your photo its on the left...![]()

Dear Aragorth,Originariamente Scritto da Aragorth
considering only the earth curvature, Mt. Carpegna/Catria/Nerone - Mt. Nanos line of sight is obstructed by earth surface curve profile.
In fact, considering only the geometric aspect of the problem, from a 1250m height you can see an object far 300 km, only if the object has an height of at less ~2300m.
But if you also hold account of visible light rays downwards bending due to the atmospheric refraction, you could find the answer

Bio,
Yes I know, thanks for explanations.
Can you tell me if that program tells you the possibility of seeing the Gran Sasso d'Italia? Its far away, but with height of 2900m it could probably be possible.
PS: I posted reportage here: http://forum.meteonetwork.it/showthread.php?t=9216

The analysis indicates that Gran Sasso (Corno Grande 2913 m, heighest spot elevation of Appennini, 373 km far from Mt. Nanos) is not visible.Originariamente Scritto da Aragorth
Instead the analysis set the top of Mt. Terminillo (2216 m, 380 km far from Mt. Nanos) as visible.
I think the obstruction of Gran Sasso is due to some low croatian relief (35-40 km far from Mt. Nanos) that falls on the line of sight Nanos - Corno Grande.
By the way the top of Mt. Terminillo is the farest earth surface area the software indicates it as visible from Mt. Nanos, but I can't say this is 100% OK, because all the problem play around the value I give to the refraction factor.
Only you with your eyes could confirm or not
PS: I've seen your photos: simple... fantastic
