The archipelagos in the Bay of Bothnia are covered with 15-45 cm thick fast ice. At sea there is very
close, rafted and ridged 15-40 cm thick ice in the north and 5-20cm level ice and 10-30cm thick very
close ice in the south. A 40nm long brash ice barrier is present at about 65°20'N in the west. In the
Quark there is 5-20 cm thick, very close and level ice at sea. In the Sea of Bothnia there is 10-30 cm
thick fast ice in the archipelagos, up to 20nm outside the Finnish coast there thin ice. Thin ice is also
present in the Gävle bight. The inner part of the Archipelago Sea is covered with 10-25 cm thick fast
ice. On the Ångermanälv, Lake Mälaren and the northern archipelagos of the Lake Vänern there is 15-
35 cm thick fast ice. The Pärnu Bay, Moonsund and the northern and eastern inner parts of the Gulf of
Finland are covered with 15-50 cm thick fast ice. In the eastern Gulf of Finland there is 5-30cm thick,
very close and consolidated ice, at sea the western part mostly thin ice and new ice. In the Gulf of Riga
there is very close, 5-15cm thick ice in north and thin ice and new ice elsewhere. New ice occurs along
the coast from Saaremaa to the Pomeranian Bight. In the southern region of the Baltic Sea and in
Skagerrak there is up to 25 cm thick ice in some harbours and sheltered inner coastal waters. The ice in
sheltered Norwegian Fjords is mostly 15-30 cm, in places up to 50 cm thick. In some inner parts of
coastal waters at the Danish and German coasts of the North Sea there is thin ice or new ice.

Aggiungo che nella Cina settentrionale (Bohai Sea e Yellow Sea) la copertura ghiacciata ha raggiunto il massimo da 40 anni a questa parte (notizia tratta da Rise in sea level reaches record high), con gravi disagi in zona.

Una collega di mia moglie che è svedese le ha riferito che a casa sua hanno tocca piu' volte i - 30 e questo era da anni che non accadeva mentre era quasi una normale quando lei era bambina.il problema è che la gente non è piu' abituata

E' il blu della legenda. da 0 a 10% di ghiaccio.

Il Baltico con copertura >9/10 in tutta la metà settentrionale...sfogliando le mappe storiche sembra che fosse dai primi anni 80 che non si verificava una situazione del genere

Mi sembra che sia stia per concludere comunque un'ottima annata per la criosfera del NH al termine dell'inverno:

l'estensione del ghiaccio marino artico non è lontana dalla media



e nei prossimi giorni il mare di barents potrebbe arrivare ad essere in media




L'estensione del ghiaccio nel Baltico potrebbe continuare ad aumentare ed è già notevole



e per tutta la stagione invernale una copertura nevosa vicina ai massimi dell'ultimo quarantennio
